TANTRA WATER GRATEFUL YEWWWW
I often forget how incredible water is... my friend described it as a magical elixir the other day, and that feels like a pretty incredible description. I’m going to stick with that. It strikes me that drinking a glass of water is one of the most pure and excellent activities that one can do. And taking a moment for gratefulness, obviously a similar thing. Strikes me that combining these is a superpower... having a glass of water and being grateful for water as a substance... how could you beat that as a healthy habit really !? Speaking of healthy habits, it’s nice to have enough space to feel into these. Perhaps my life has become a bit slower recently, and I’m noticing the incredible power of those little things, moments of stretching, stopping to literally smell the roses. All of those things.
INFINITY DIAMONDS
In an awesome energy reading from Hanna this week, she talked about the ‘diamond’ or ‘kaleidoscope’ perspective, the perspetive which is able to see all other perspectives. To be able to recognise that everyone has a different perspective and then remain in this meta or big picture frame of mind, seeing the sunrise and also knowing that the sunrise is seen differently through all the other pairs of eyes, experienced differently by the flowers. Which are connected to me and connected to the sun. All pretty wild. Just finished All Art Is Ecological by Tim Morton, with lots of relevant ideas to this too. In particular, something that really stuck with me is this sense that we interpret a work of art through an ‘infinite’ lens, recognising that there’s no end of thoughts and ideas which could come from analysing a painting, say. But we don’t view other things this way, such as plants or animals or the wind. We have a more functional idea of ‘this is to be pollenated, or eaten, or to blow. Rather than looking into them as diamonds with infinite teachings and futures emerging, to show us, to inform us of.
THIS BLOG ITSELF
I would check in and report that I’m really enjoying writing this blog. The purpose was to give me a writing outlet which didn’t allow me to explore my feelings, frustrations and desires very much. I tend to journal about these a lot, and sometimes get caught up too much in writing about them, or the contents of my day, forgetting to explore what’s inspiring me and what’s moving me. It’s been nice to write this, don’t think anyone will actually really read or find it, but the fact that it’s freely available online changes the manner and substance of what I’m writing. Good times.
COLLECTIVE EFFERVESCENCE
Lucky enough to have gone to a choir practice this week, also a few concerts and parties (including, ridiculously, the band Art Vs Science). Was reminded of the concept of Collective Effervescence which is something like ‘the feeling of belonging which comes from a shared experience.’ It’s attributed to being in the crowd at a sports stadium or amongst a huge dance floor. Witnessing yourself as one human amongst a huge sea of humans, all of whom are plugged in to the same energy. I think on New Years Eve, we experience a particularly large burst of this, as everyone on the planet is paying attention to some state of reflection and renewal for the year ahead. For my money, singing and dancing in a huge group are particularly good for this, I guess it’s something about our biology or tribal past, we just love expressing in big collectives. More choir and more big dancefloors please.
