1a. i am a thirty-four year old man from melbourne, australia, currently studying fine art in arnhem, netherlands. my life is an inquiry into the spirit of creativity.
1b. this video is me jumping onto my car in the year 2014.
2. i’m fascinated by interiority & the uniquely whirring mind we each own. by the ways we bridge gaps between our consciousnesses, the inadequacy & glorious occasional success of words, the multitudes within eye contact, how on earth we wind up in moments of utter loneliness despite knowing not to.
3. the smartphone meme landscape which facilitates the modern disconnect is ripe for appropriation. also, i’m curious about the future of individuality as we find each other again into the 21st century & the regenerative co-habitation communities which shall become commonplace in the western world.
4. i explore the above & more through visual art, which sometimes swells & bursts into video art, performance, decks of cards, zines, clothing design, or gigantic high-concept theatrical parties designed as sites of playful & authentic connection. on the ART section of this site, you can read, watch & buy work.
5. i am an advocate of creative expression. i believe artistic practice is good for all people just like physical exercise, a ritual to aid wellbeing & one’s soul. i feel it allows us to ‘exhale’ all of the content which we inevitably ‘inhale’ each day. i talk about this here, the closest thing i have done to a ted talk so far !
6. on the SPARKY section of the site are workshops, products & videos in this vein, aimed to provoke creative inspiration and motivation.

i kept passing a pile of discarded logs during my weekly jogs on the track near my wild mansion home in templestowe, vic. their smooth ends really felt like a canvas waiting to happen. usually while i run, my brain works through looping thoughts.. eventually finding a way out of the spirals.. i arrive home sweaty and clear / and so ‘why can’t I stop thinking about it.’ if you know, you know / the transporting of the logs using dear sophie’s car and the eventual burning of this piece on a quietly lively sunday night in the presence of soph, tim and sash were as much a part of the artwork as the ‘finished product’ pictured below / dreamscape video: h e r e x
