in the bush with max and luki, gentle men. a little heavy hearted but that’s hard to feel for long amongst the abundance of the trees, each gifting its own oxygen. the soul in all things, life underneath the life. the gentle men strummed intricate melodies on guitars, the fire crackled, i got the brushes out.

50 Ways To Leave (2021)
ink on paper

i ran in the great forest trail marathon in nov, 2023, an utterly stunning and at times treacherous 21km through the mountains and river trails, with the purpose of fundraising to help establish the great forest national park.

as part of that fundraising effort, max and i held a one-night-only exhibition in the spacious shed in our coburg home, a few photos of the exhibition below.

the four works here are all available to purchase as A3 lustre prints, profits going to the forest fundraiser.

Signifiers (2022)

ACRYLIC, INK AND TEXTA ON CANVAS

a 49 word poem written on a paper placemat on the restaurant carriage of a train leaving Vienna, with swirls of Hundertwasser in my head, a desire for depth in my lived experience and thoughts about going beyond the surface in many senses / poem was intended to be presented as a 7 x 7 grid, with hidden meanings within... and so recently i discovered the scrunched up placemat, followed my instructions and created the painting you see a photograph of below:

hey, by the way I made a sculpture called the failure mobile, which is able to assess the quality of a work of art. just thought I should tell you about that.... anyway, a video the failure mobile is -->  here
CURRENT WORK:

Everyday Mysteries (2021)

MIXED MEDIA ON CARDBOARD

tarot seems to have popped up in every corner of my life lately / seems like you have to be receptive to signs from the divine sometimes, perhaps in this case there’s an irony given the history of tarot being used for divination

i’m lucky enough to have spent a residency at the Berlin Art Institute and decided I wanted to attempt to create 78 paintings over this time, each responding to one of the mysteries posed by each tarot card / i’m interested in bringing these into an everyday context, examining the practice of attempting to include spirituality in a chaotic 21st century worker life

the future of this project will be to convert the paintings into a deck of cards, as well as producing a zine with info about each // slideshows of all the cards are below, click to scroll thru xx
